Saturday was the annual Spud Days in Shelley. Its been a family tradition of ours to go. They have a parade in the morning and then booths and games in the park right afterwards. They have a Spud Tug (tug-of-war over mashed potatoes), they give away free baked potatoes, have tons of fair food, and potato sack races. We met Carly and Will in time for the parade and spent the morning with them.
Carson had a lot of fun at the parade and he got a lot of candy. He was kinda bossy and wanted either Carly or I to pick up the candy for him towards the end. He liked to wave to all the floats and dance to the music.
Brooklyn hung out with her daddy in the shade since it was warmer than we expected it to be. The last few years it has always been cold, so we dressed her in a thick outfit and it ended up being really hot. She looked cute though!
We love Spud Days!! I can't wait for our kids to get a bit older so they can enjoy more of the games in the park. And as my brother so loving put it, "You actually celebrate potatoes in Idaho?"
Yes, in fact, we do. Potato Pride.
You might laugh, and that's ok. Just remember it the next time you eat a potato. It probably came from Idaho.
